Biography
Li Qi (Richie) Chan
Richie is a PhD Student and Research Scholar at the National University of Singapore (NUS) Department of Architecture, where he also serves as a part-time tutor. His research sits at the intersection of urban public space, psychology, and wellbeing.
He recently led the research, narrative development, and creative direction for the 40th anniversary book of JGP Architecture (2025), a publication shaped through archival research and in-depth interviews centred on human stories and practice continuity.
Richie’s recent teaching includes interdisciplinary design innovation at the Singapore Institute of Technology (2024-2025), where he taught critical thinking, design thinking, and futures thinking. Prior to this, he lectured at the American University of Yangon and the British University of Yangon in social sciences, architectural history, and communication. He also led workshops, talks, and university-wide programmes on design, creativity, and life skills.
Trained in architecture, Richie previously practised at SUPER ASSEMBLY Architects and JGP Architecture. Beyond architectural practice, he has worked across design entrepreneurship, media and publishing. He served as Creative Director at Myanmore Media Group and as Managing Editor & Art Director at Knowledge Media Group, leading editorial and creative initiatives promoting design, art, culture, and tourism across the Greater Mekong Subregion. In 2023, he co-founded WOWCARDSTUDIO, a multidisciplinary creative practice based in Singapore and Yangon.
