About Me

I’m Richie Chan 陈立起, an educator, a designer, and an aspiring researcher exploring the intersections of critical urban theory and design, environmental psychology, and futures.

Trained as an architect, I began my career designing homes before expanding into editorial, branding, and digital design. In 2023, I founded WOWCARDSTUDIO, a creative practice based in Singapore and Yangon, working across publications, identity, and spatial projects while gradually moving into futures-oriented consultancy.

Alongside practice, I teach Design Innovation at the Singapore Institute of Technology as Associate Faculty. My teaching focuses on critical thinking, design thinking, and futures thinking, and equips students with tools to design their lives and futures. I also contribute to design thesis critiques at the National University of Singapore.

Looking ahead, I am deepening my research into critical urban futures, with a focus on how urban environments can support introvert-oriented users and enable human agency without dulling public life.

Outside of work, I prefer a quieter life—reading, writing, walking, and reflecting.
